FREEDOM ELEMENTARY

As many of us are working hard on NTI week two packets, don't forget to double check your writing. Even if you're just writing simple sentences, correct practice leads to fluency which becomes second nature. Spacing between words, capital letters when appropriate, spelling all make up a strong writer. You can achieve great writing practice in all subjects if you re-read what your brain is telling you to say. Sometimes we think faster than we can get it down on paper or in Google. Re-reading can help us see if what we said really makes sense. 

BCPS has accessed a great website that can help Kindergarteners all the way up to FES fifth graders! If you go to www.ABCmouse.com/redeem and type in the exclusive code for our district you can play with some wonderful digital as well as print off materials that cover all subjects. Did I mention it's ALL FREE! This website / app subscription is usually $9.99 a month!  It was drastically discounted at the beginning of last week but now it's free through the code in the PDF attached below. Enjoy. My family has been exploring it this weekend and still haven't gotten to all the material that is offered on it. 

It's a gloomy Monday, and what better way to start the blood pumping and get that brain awake than some movement? Use the chart to spell out some fun words, practice your letter names or sounds, spell you name, spell your favorite food, activities, etc.!

Hey all we are nearing the end of our first week in NTI days. I'm very impressed by all of the FES teaches and support staff we have. It's incredibly obvious how much our students mean to us and how much we want them to succeed whether they are with us learning or at home. I've emailed, called and texted multiple teachers and parents this week and just to recap I wanted to leave some resources and reminders for help as we continue on to next week.
