When reading is fun....

No this isn't homework.  Think about when you were younger or had to do something that doesn't sound that fun. Personally my first thought is cleaning my house. I know it has to be done but I'll admit I put it off as much as I can. Students that don't care to read often find themselves doing everything they can instead of reading. How can we change this? Make it fun, crazy, and different. If you find that your child isn't in love with reading or having trouble try a new and different approach. In the image to the right or below if you're reading this on a smartphone , you will see some not so boring ways to read.  Sometimes that's all it takes, an interesting place to read or a fun way to read to get a child excited.   If only there was a fun way to get/keep the house clean.

Hello and welcome back to a new school year. I'm have been given a great opportunity to pick up where Mrs. Hoskins left off last year. She is still in the building so no need for tears.

My goal this year is learning the ropes and trying my best to strengthen your child's reading abilities. I will be posting at home activities you can try with your child. One of the best things I can encourage for your family to do, is to read nightly with your student. Read to them, let them read to you. Try to pick a book that interest both of you so it can be an enjoyable time.  This can lead to meaningful discussions which enrich your students comprehension and understanding of a text.
